Comprehensive Mental Health Assessments

A comprehensive mental health assessment is an in-depth evaluation of your emotional, psychological, and mental state with recommendations from our qualified psychologists.

If you are facing significant life challenges, have experienced a traumatic event or just feel that you might benefit from a deeper understanding of your mental health, an assessment is the key step towards identifying any issues and receiving the right treatment. Book in an assessment intake session to discuss if an assessment is right for you.

We offer a range of assessments including:

How Comprehensive Mental Health Assessments Works

The goal of a comprehensive mental health assessment is to diagnose any mental health disorders accurately, understand the individual’s specific needs, and develop an effective treatment plan. Here’s how it typically works:

Background semi-structured interview

This comprises an interview with a psychologist to collect relevant information including family history, developmental and medical background, diagnoses, education, employment, living situation assessments, activities of daily living, interventions, social and formal supports.

Personality Assessment Inventory (PAI)

This is an objective measure of adult personality. The measure assesses psychopathological syndromes and provides information relevant for clinical diagnosis. It can also be used for treatment planning.

Depending on the referral and the needs of each individual other measures of functioning and psychological wellbeing will be utilised to ensure that requirements are met.

Time: 2-hour assessment
Investment: $1500

Structured Clinical Interview for the DSM-5 (SCID-5)

This is a structured interview using the Diagnostic Statistics Manual -5 as a guide to formulate diagnosis. The DSM-5 (Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fifth Edition) is a widely used manual for diagnosing mental disorders, published by the American Psychiatric Association. It provides comprehensive guidelines for the diagnosis of mental health conditions, based on specific criteria and categories.

Feedback Session

A feedback session is recommended after a mental health assessment. A feedback session provides the opportunity for the client to go through the findings of the report with the clinician who did the assessment, ask questions, and develop an understanding of the results and recommendations.

Time: 50-minute feedback session
Investment: $250
