Frequently Asked Questions

No referral is required to see any of our clinicians.
However, if you plan to claim Medicare rebates to assist with the cost of your sessions, you will need to visit your GP first to get a Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) and referral.

With a valid referral and Mental Health Care Plan from a GP, Medicare will rebate 10 psychology sessions per calendar year (6 with an initial referral, with a further 4 upon review).

These Medicare-eligible sessions reset again at the beginning of the new calendar year, even if you haven’t used all 10 from the previous year.

We offer bulk-billed and reduced fee appointments on an individual needs’ basis. Please discuss with your therapist at your first appointment.

Many private health funds provide coverage for psychology sessions. Check with your provider to see if this is included in your plan.

Please cancel at least 24 hours in advance. We send reminders 48 hours ahead. Missed appointments incur the full session fee.

You can easily book online using the “Book Now” button on our home page, or reach out to us directly.

Our team will chat with you about your needs and match you with the clinician best suited to support you.

Your first session focuses on getting a detailed understanding of your history, your current concerns, and your goals for therapy. Developing a tailored treatment plan usually takes time, so while we may begin discussing next steps right away, the complete plan often comes together over initial sessions. Your clinician is always available to answer questions and ensure you feel clear about the way forward.

Meaningful change takes time. Psychology works by “rewiring” your brain to build healthy neural pathways. Your clinician will work with you to give you the tools to address the areas of your life you’d like to focus on, helping you build practical strategies at a pace that feels right for you.

While many find medication helpful for treating their ADHD, there are a wide range of non-pharmaceutical interventions that can provide support and decrease the impact of ADHD symptoms on day-today life.

Masterpiece Psychology provides a range of state-of-the-art, evidence backed treatments including Neurofeedback and Cogmed to complement traditional therapy. These tools help individuals with ADHD work with their brain instead of fighting against it.

Yes, if it helps you feel more at ease – especially for children, teens, or clients with complex needs. Just let our intake team know.

Absolutely. Therapy is rarely one-size-fits-all, and many people benefit from a blended approach. Your clinician will discuss your options with you and tailor sessions to support your specific goals.

We provide affirmative support designed to help autistic individuals navigate daily life without seeking to change who they are. Our psychologists offer practical strategies for emotional regulation, executive functioning, and life transitions, working collaboratively with clients and their families on practical goals.
