Our psychologists do more than just talk. We provide tailored, targeted help to make everyday life easier, alongside practical strategies to help your child fulfil their potential.
We provide affirming, practical support for neurodivergent minds. Rather than trying to change who your child is, we focus on helping them understand their unique wiring, advocate for themselves, and navigate a world that isn't always built for them.
We offer structured support for children facing delays or differences in their development, providing scaffolding to help them build independence, confidence, and foundational life skills.
All behaviour is communication. We work alongside children and families to decode the 'why' behind challenging behaviours, providing you with effective tools to manage meltdowns, navigate transitions, and restore calm at home.
Help for kids and teens to understand how anxiety works in their bodies and brains, overcome phobias and quiet excessive worry.
Support in building resilience and executive function skills to help young people navigate school, manage workload pressures, and handle exam anxiety.
Making and keeping friends isn't always straightforward. Masterpiece Psychology provides a safe space for children and teens to explore relationship dynamics, develop self-advocacy skills, and process experiences of bullying or exclusion.
Support for young people experiencing low mood, poor self-worth, or struggles with identity (including gender, sexuality, and cultural identity), helping them foster self-compassion and build a strong, confident sense of self.
Major life events (like parental separation, grief, moving schools, or experiencing trauma) can unsettle a child’s sense of safety. Our psychologists can help them to process difficult life events, express grief or confusion safely, and rebuild a stable sense of security.
We tailor our approach to suit your child’s age, personality, and specific needs. Our evidence-based interventions include
Practical, goal-oriented therapies that help young people understand the link between their thoughts, feelings, and actions. Excellent for building emotional resilience and managing anxiety.
Specialised, technology-assisted brain training and working memory programmes designed to improve focus, attention, and cognitive capacity.
For younger children, play is their natural language. We use directed and non-directed play to help them process complex emotions, trauma, or changes in family dynamics without needing the vocabulary to explain it.
Dedicated one-on-one therapy focused on concrete skills, including emotional regulation techniques, social skills training for peer interactions, and applied behavioural therapy.
Clarity is the first step toward effective support. We conduct thorough, diagnostic evaluations to help you understand exactly how your child learns and processes the world.
Nuanced, neurodiversity-affirming evaluations to identify Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder and Autism Spectrum Disorders, providing you with a clear roadmap for school and home support.
We utilise the WISC (Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children) and WIAT (Wechsler Individual Achievement Test). These gold-standard psychometric tests allow us to identify learning profiles, giftedness, and specific learning difficulties.
The first session is just for the adults. This gives us a chance to speak openly about your child’s needs, gather important background history, and understand the current challenges entirely from your perspective.
We take the time to thoroughly evaluate your child's unique situation and understand how they process the world. From there, we collaborate with you to develop a clear, personalised plan designed to build their skills and make everyday life easier.
Your child begins their therapy sessions. Our first priority is building a safe, trusting space so they feel completely comfortable exploring their emotions and learning new coping strategies at a pace that suits them.
Therapy is an evolving process. We continuously monitor your child’s progress and adapt our approach as their needs change.

No. You do not need a referral to see one of our psychologists.
However, if you would like to claim Medicare rebates, your child will need a Mental Health Treatment Plan from their GP, paediatrician or psychiatrist.
You don’t need to wait until things become overwhelming before seeking support, and you don’t need to have all the answers before reaching out.
Many parents contact us because they have a feeling something isn’t quite right but aren’t sure why. Whether your child is struggling emotionally, finding school difficult, experiencing changes in behaviour, or you’re simply concerned about their wellbeing or development, we’re here to help.
Part of our role is to understand what your child is experiencing, identify their strengths and challenges, and work with you to determine the most appropriate next steps. Early intervention often leads to the best outcomes.
We support children and adolescents experiencing a wide range of emotional, behavioural and developmental concerns, including anxiety, low mood, emotional regulation difficulties, trauma, ADHD, autism, school refusal, social difficulties, grief, behavioural challenges, and self-esteem concerns.
If you’re unsure whether psychology is the right fit, we’re always happy to have a conversation to help guide you.
We support children from two years of age through to adolescence. Our psychologists tailor therapy to each child’s developmental stage, ensuring support is engaging, age-appropriate and effective
There’s no need to make it feel like a test or something to worry about. We usually recommend keeping it simple and age-appropriate.
You might say something like:
“We’re going to meet someone whose job is to help kids with big feelings, worries or tricky situations.”
Encourage your child to come just as they are. They don’t need to prepare or know what to say. We’ll take it from there.
For younger children, the initial parent session is an important first step. It gives you a dedicated space to share sensitive information and your primary concerns without your child feeling judged or overwhelmed. Your psychologist will use this time to gather a thorough developmental history, set goals, and design the best approach to engage your child.
For older teenagers, a parent session may not always be necessary. We can decide this together on a case-by-case basis.
We currently have both male and female psychologists working with children and adolescents. We know that some children feel more comfortable talking to a particular psychologist, and finding the right therapeutic fit is incredibly important. We are very happy to accommodate these preferences to ensure your child feels as safe and supported as possible.
Every child is different, so we tailor our approach to suit their age, personality and presenting concerns.
For younger children, therapy often involves play, drawing and age-appropriate activities. Older children and teenagers may spend more time talking through their experiences and learning practical strategies.
Our priority is helping your child feel comfortable and safe while we begin building a therapeutic relationship.
Many parents worry that their child won’t engage with therapy—and that’s completely understandable.
Children don’t need to arrive ready to talk. Building trust takes time, and our psychologists work at your child’s pace. Some children communicate through play or drawing before they feel comfortable talking, while others settle in very quickly.
There is no “right” way for therapy to begin.
Absolutely. Parents play an important role in supporting their child’s progress.
The level of involvement depends on your child’s age, goals and preferences, but we will work collaboratively with you throughout the process while also respecting your child’s privacy and helping them develop independence.
There is no one-size-fits-all answer.
Some children benefit from a small number of sessions focused on a specific issue, while others may require longer-term support for more complex concerns.
Your psychologist will regularly review progress with you and work together to determine the most appropriate treatment plan.
Under the Better Access initiative, children and adolescents with a Mental Health Treatment Plan are eligible for Medicare rebates for up to 10 individual psychology sessions per calendar year (6 with the initial referral, and a further 4 following a review).
There are also specific Medicare rebates available for autism diagnostic assessments for individuals under 25 years of age when referred by a paediatrician or psychiatrist.
We’ll always discuss fees with you before therapy begins, so you’ll know exactly what to expect. If you have any questions about Medicare rebates or funding options, we’re happy to help.
Yes. If your child has an NDIS plan and is either Self-Managed or Plan-Managed, you can use your funding to cover our psychology and assessment services.
We offer Telehealth appointments for all age groups, as well as in-person sessions at our Edgecliff patience. The fees remains same for both options.
We do offer after-school times, as we know these are incredibly convenient for families.
However, these spaces are highly sought after and tend to fill up quickly, so we recommend booking well in advance.
As a busy practice, we require 24 hours’ notice if you need to reschedule or cancel. Cancellations made within 24 hours of the appointment, or missed sessions, will incur a cancellation fee equal to the full cost of the consultation.
